Shalom fellow armour modellers.

I like to display ammunition with my armour models. Italeri makes a very nice accessory set called MODERN BATTLE ACCESSORIES that has a number of pieces of ammunition in it. Unfortunately Italeri does *NOT* tell you what these pieces are. To me it looks like you get some 105 mm rounds, some 120 mm rounds and some 155 shells with and without the warhead in place. Here is a link to an image of this set:

http://hobbycraft.com.br/Catalogo/image ... IT6423.jpg

Can anyone here tell me if these are indeed 105 mm and 120 mm rounds and if they are suitable for display with a Merkava I, II or IV?

One of the books I have on the IDF says that the Merkava II mounted a 120 mm gun. I think that is wrong. Didn't the Merkava II have a 105 mm gun?

Cheers and thanks from Shimon

Yep, 105 and 120 HEAT and APFSDS, 155 rounds/tubes and possibly 105 howitzer rounds. They aren't that great IMHO, go for Tamiya accessory sets for tank rounds, AFV Club for 155 howitzer.

Not only the Tamiya set's more crisp details, it's only slightly cheaper (at least here in the NL's). The MM141 Modern US Accessory comes with the following (among other stowage stuff):
105 mm shell case
105 HEP rounds
105 APDS sabot
105 and 120 APFSDS sabot
105 and 120 HEAT rounds
protective tank round tubes
some .30 and .50 cal ammo boxes

Shalom.

I saw the two replies regarding the superiority of the Tamiya set and my hopes soared. Unfortunately that Tamiya set is no longer available here where I am in Ontario, Canada. I guess I'll have to settle for the Italeri set after all.

Cheers from Shimon

Which rounds do you need from the Tam set? I rarely use the rounds themselves, only the tubes and crates. I can snail mail them.

Shalom.

Thank you. I can make use of any or all of that ammo (not the tubes or crates as I have some of those) as I have models that have 105 mm guns and other models that have 120 mm guns.

My local hobby shop informed me today that the Italeri set is also out of production. It looks like it is going to be very hard to get styrene ammo for our IDF tanks.

How do I send you my snail-mail address?

Cheers from Shimon

Just send me a PM. I think six rounds easily fit into a regular envelope. BTW, I am not going to send it by priority mail, so it could take a while before it has crossed the Atlantic.

The ammo has been posted, let's see how long it takes the mailman to swim across the Atlantic! ;)

Shalom.
The hobby shop near me that I do mail-order with tells me that bother the Italeri and Tamoya ammo sets are out of production. However there is hope for those of you who might also be looking for ammo for your tank(s). Tamiya has combined the US Modern Accessory Set with four ICM 1st Gulf War figures and is selling it for $24.99 at that hobby shop. This is a Special Edition set and it is number 89772. Here is a link to images of the new set:

I hope this helps anyone who wants ammo for their tank.

Cheers from Shimon
